from azreenchan, i learnt how to make epoxy stickers, in which i was planning to make a few as door gifts for my wedding last june. yet, not many people will make use of stickers unless they're artistic or crafty; hence i decided to make a general item instead - fridge magnets.
i decided to use my own original artworks instead of decorative papers and pictures. at first, i planned to draw them one-by-one, aiming for 300 pieces. i started with sketch papers using thinnest copic pens (0.03 and 0.05), since the circle sizes are small:- measured only 38 mm diameter.
colored the sketches using a mix of watercolors and pencil colors.
pasted the epoxy stickers on them.
add magnets at the back, and i'm done!
to give a better finish, i put a layer of glass sealant on the colored sketch before pasting the epoxy sticker on them (make sure the paints have completely dried before you apply the sealant, or you'll smear them). normal clear glue works fine as well.
it is harder to paste the epoxy sticker on a sketch paper compared to an A4, you'll need to put a heavy book on them for few hours to ensure they have perfectly glued to each other. however, the finishing is much better.
in order to avoid the magnets to be too thin, i add a thick cardboard on the back before applying the magnet.
below are some other magnets that i managed to draw by hand.
and some on printed artworks.
it had been so much fun doing the packaging!
thanx for reading :D
